Life’s Milestones
Life brings moments of joy, commitment and loss. As your parish church, we are here to support you and your family through each of these times with care and compassion.
Baptisms
Baptism is a joyful moment in the life of a family and the church. It is a sign of God’s unconditional love and a welcome into the wider Christian community.
Whether for a child or an adult, baptism marks the beginning of a journey of faith. In the Church of Scotland, we baptise in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, trusting in God’s love, guidance and presence throughout our lives.
Who can be baptised?
If you are considering baptism, please contact the minister to talk through what the service involves and how we can support your family.
Weddings
A wedding is a celebration of love, commitment and hope for the future. We are pleased to conduct weddings in both Oban Parish Church and Kilmore Kirk, and welcome couples who live locally or have a meaningful connection with the area.
Weddings can take place on most days of the week, and we encourage early discussion as certain times of year are particularly busy. Our minister will guide you through the service, help with planning, and offer support with both the practical and spiritual aspects of the day.
A church wedding is a Christian celebration. It affirms the worth of each person and the promises you make to one another within God’s love. You are welcome to personalise your service by including music, readings or contributions from friends and family.
For legal matters, couples also need to contact the Registrar to obtain a Marriage Schedule.
Funerals
As the parish church for Kilmore and Oban, we are here to support all families at the time of bereavement, whether or not you have a church connection.
A funeral service offers a space to honour a loved one’s life, share memories and acknowledge the range of emotions that come with loss. Funerals are arranged in partnership with your chosen Funeral Director, and services can take place in the church if you wish.
The minister will help you shape a service that reflects the person you are remembering, while offering words of comfort and hope rooted in God’s enduring love. Children are welcome to attend, as they often benefit from being included in the process.
Pastoral care continues beyond the service.
Our minister is available for support in the days and months that follow, and you are always welcome to find strength and peace through worship with us.
